Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Analytic Forum?
The Analytic Forum (TAF) is an international organisation dedicated to the study, transmission, and public discussion of psychoanalysis. We offer online courses, seminars, reading groups, supervision, and professional development for clinicians, researchers, students, and anyone with a serious interest in psychoanalytic thought.
Who are your courses for?
Our programmes are designed for a broad audience. Participants include:
Psychoanalysts and psychotherapists
Psychologists and psychiatrists
Counsellors and mental health professionals
Academics and researchers
Graduate students
Readers with a serious intellectual interest in psychoanalysis
You do not need to be a clinician unless a particular course specifies otherwise.
Do I need prior knowledge of psychoanalysis?
No. Some courses assume familiarity with psychoanalytic concepts, while others are designed as introductions. Each course page indicates the expected level of prior knowledge.
Are courses live or pre-recorded?
Most courses are taught live online via Zoom. Sessions are also recorded, allowing participants to watch later if they cannot attend in real time.
What time zone are classes held in?
Course times are listed in the local teaching time together with an automatically converted international time. We aim to schedule programmes that are accessible to participants across Europe, North America, Australia, and elsewhere whenever possible.
Will I receive recordings?
Yes. Unless otherwise stated, registered participants receive access to recordings for a limited period after each session.
Do I receive a certificate?
Many of our educational programmes include a certificate of participation upon completion. Where applicable, this will be stated on the course page.
Are your programmes accredited?
Unless explicitly stated, our courses are educational rather than professional accreditation programmes. Participants should check with their own professional organisations regarding continuing education recognition where relevant.
Can I ask questions during classes?
Absolutely. We encourage thoughtful discussion. Most sessions include dedicated time for questions and conversation with the lecturer.
What happens if I miss a session?
If recordings are available, you can watch the session afterwards.
How do I register?
Simply visit the relevant course page and complete the online checkout. You’ll receive confirmation by email along with joining instructions before the course begins.
What is your refund policy?
Refunds are available up to 7 days before the course begins unless otherwise stated. After that point, refunds are generally not possible because places are reserved.
